Astrid Monroe & Genesis P-Orridge - When I Was Young (2004) [V0]

Subtle, somewhat minimal trip-hop creates a stripped down atmosphere through repetitive drums, melodies and basslines. With Genesis' manipulated words echoing throughout the pieces. Although seemingly unspectacular, I quite fancy the eeriness that is prevalent throughout the record. I can't seem to help cycling back to this. I don't know how much creative input Genesis had in this but it seems to me to mostly be Astrid Monroe.

  8. I don't know if this is the case -never heard about this band- but I am afraid that some trip hop bands have landed in the easy-genre-style that stereotypes a sound and then reproduce it over and over. It's not like Massive Attack and Portishead in the very beginning, who were totally different from on another in spite being labeled in the same genre.

  9. Astrid Monroe drops out of sight and show up in time with innovative and fascinating music! I think that is why I do not get bored! I am looking forward to listening to a new album.
