Just a few thing's I'd like to make clear. I don't use the experimental tag/label on my posts because I'd end up tagging 9 out of 10 posts with it anyway. "Experimental" is not a genre of music, it is a way to approach creativity. Neither is "drone" really a genre of music, but I use that anyway, sue me.
None of the download links on this blog are hosted on my own servers.
FLAC is a lossless audio format and encoder. During compression, FLAC does not lose quality from the audio stream.
V0, aka APX (Alt Preset eXtreme) is a LAME variable bitrate setting with an aimed average bitrate at 250kbps. Today LAME is widely recognized as the best lossy format (mp3) audio encoder at mid-high bitrates.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a bong -BUT- I think that is some type of custom crafted didgeridoo instrument that the guy from Le Syndicat is blowing into. Either that, or he just got his head impaled (via the mouth) upon a signpost. Ouch!

Appears to have a lot of experimental artists and whatnot on it that *might* appeal to you. ;-) Check out "Godspeed You Black Emperor!" (band) if you get a chance. Ambient. Kind of cool.

Thanks but I know of GY!BE already. I typically don't enjoy post-rock as I find it very formulaic with every release sounding the exact same as the previous one. Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Slow Riot For A New Zero Kanada EP is passable but I'd much rather spend my time listening to Swans' Soundtracks For The Blind.

It's more like a post-punk album that became really essential to all this ambient rock / post-rock stuff that would spawn later. Anyhow it's really good.

Hey guys! A few words from Veidt Mjolnir (the guy with glasses on the pictures). NO it's NOT bong or proto-didgeridoo or wathever... But something called "micro-tubes" connected to a micro-contact at their ends to modify voices. Nice to see people still interested in this oldskool destroyed breaks stuff;) And "brainwashed" is an excellent site, specially because they have the HUGE Meat Beat Manifesto discography (amongst many others).
