Helicopter quartet. A string quartet recorded with each musician in a separate running helicopter mid air, with the noise of the engines and the blades. Not Stockhausen's best but does build up a tension, an anxious atmosphere. Might be a good starting point if you're looking into Stockhausen, it depends on where you're coming from, though I'd anyway recommend Elektronische Musik over this.
The Youtube clip above is from the film about Helikopter Quartett which I can more heartily recommend. I'm considering uploading an encode of it here later. Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteLlort ...
Dude, you are fookin' amazing. Really. ;-) First the rare as dragon's teeth Re-Entry by Techno Animal, and now this. YOU R-O-C-K!!!
You've double made my month. Very nice job in acquiring this album by Stockhausen (R.I.P.). I remember how difficult it was for me to acquire this album back in 2000 or 2001. Every record store that I went to, I inquired about this disc. "Do you happen to have Karlheinz Stockhausen's 'Helicopter String Quartet' by chance?" I was either met with blank stares or a Karlheinz who? Ah well. So be it. Sadly, I had to sell my 350 + CD collection years ago due to $$$ reasons and this disc was part of the collection. Found it by accident in a Border's Book Store of all places, tucked away in the bin for Stockhausen ... almost a quirk of fate. Import's don't usually make their way to the bin's in Borders (or so it seems).
OK, enough of my talkin' here. Once again, I do sincerely thank you for having taking the time and effort to upload this album, in addition to adding the YouTube video about this project. Nice job.
Take care,

discogs.com/Le-Syndicat-Sardanapale/release/191065?ev=rr
And the link at Discogs for the album "Macisto Fuzztanz" (shown in this post) can be found here (once again, just add the www.):
discogs.com/Le-Syndicat-Macisto-Fuzztanz/release/191063
If I remember correctly, these albums are heavily sampled with obscure arthouse / underground film dialogue. Industrial / Noise along the lines of Lagowski / Lustmord / Legion / Terror Against Terror. Pretty cool.
Thanks for reading this and let me know if you are able to track them down.
Take care,
Trollcrusher
Oh yeah, I've heard of this project after someone named them in a NON context I decided to check them out. Don't think I ever got around to listening to it. Will have Sardanapale coming up in FLAC as soon as I've listened to it.
ReplyDeleteWill do a search for Macisto Fuzztanz later as well.
