SoiSong - xAj3z (2009) [256]

Hooray, the new SoiSong album, it too surprises us with a bizarre shape. It's not nearly as fantastic as qxn948s, but it's definitely worth hearing for anyone who likes ambient / experimental electronic music.

  2. Thanks. I appreciate the opportunity to hear this. I just want to make a comment about this (and by extension, other releases considered 'dark'): The fetishism that's taken over music of this ilk (and I say this as a long time admirer of Coil and it's spawn)almost surplants the significance of the actual sonic creations. It's as if the only way to get people to listen to it is to make it the ultra rarified. The object itself is so 'special' that you need to possess it (even if you never listen to it). In any event, as with Coil releases, I know it will take repeated listenings to appreciate what has been created.
Also, as the previous visitor mentioned, the 3rd track is corrupted (and unplayable).

  3. Okay, give me a second. It's mediafire, it's been corrupting archives very fucking often lately, I just don't know of an acceptable alternative to mediafire though. Suggestions?

bv, I see the point in what you're saying, and I agree, it's rather sad. I believe it to be a behavioral pattern emerging because of the oceans of generic art we have today. Some individuals don't want to be bundled in with that and tries to stand out, perhaps not influencing their sonic creation, but perhaps what you said.

Anyway there's a re-upload up now, downloaded and tested it myself, corruption free.

  6. A billion tahnks! I've been waiting eagerly for this...

As for the fetisism topic, well- not even Sleazy can be uninterruptably inovative forever; but I'm excited as a puppy whenever anything TG/COIL/THBC/SoiSong related pops the scene :)

  7. AFAIK Megaupload is pretty decent, specially if you download a bunch of stuff during their happy hours.

  8. I don't like megaupload. Bad wait, bad popups/ads, bad upload history though I guess they at least have one. They also remove the files if 90 days have passed without any download on the file.

  9. There was a good Soisong interview somewhere in their myspace where they mention the fetishism thing. As for innovation both Soisong packages beat most of other "special" packages IMHO. Credit due to Pavlov for his radical design... Pricey though! :(

  10. Thanks very much for sharing this download link. Whilst I usually don't take music for free in this case I must make an exceptiion. SoiSong have made it as hard as possible to hear this, what with the limited release, price, and strange shaped disc unplayable in computers. I intend to listen to it a number of times and then delete it. And eventually I will buy the CD when/if it becomes available in a simpler less expensive for mat. A legal download from Threshold, perhaps?
    Thanks again!

  11. Thanks a lot for this. Can't justify spending £22 on a CD before hearing it.

What a neat looking CD and package ... I wonder if anyone out there has compiled a visual documentary of all of the various uniquely crafted or shaped CD's, their packaging, etc.?

I've never seen a octogonal CD before (then again, I wasn't looking), however, if I remember correctly, I think that a British leather / PVC fetish magazine by the name of "Skin Two" once released a buzzsaw shaped disc as sort of a novel way of promoting their slick magazine's content (bunch of aggressive Eurotechno tracks).

I think that it had a disclaimer to the effect of "DO NOT PLAY THIS CD IN FRONT LOADING CD PLAYERS" (i.e. dashboard CD players) since it would potentially do damage to the player. If anyone out there has a link or remembers the name of a site like I mentioned above (for the uniquely constructed CD's and their packaging ... NOT the "fetish" sites ... [insert cheeky smile here] ) then please post a response here.

Thanks everyone, and Llort ... keep up the great work.

    Take care,

    Trollcrusher ;-P

  13. The artifact is part of this release's mysterious charm. Putting the audio up for download like this just leaves me disappointed in whoever is responsible.

  14. why is the CD square? Will it even play in a CD player? I assume the data is just written closer to the center so the laser doesn't go to the outer rim.

  15. reupload it please..., thanks.
